The power of Photoshop

Another look into the wonders of technology and what us creative types are subjected to when told, "can't you just Photoshop it?"

Weeds, sigh.

There's a hole in my life where Weeds used to be. I've run out of episodes to watch and now have to wait until I can get my (stalkerish) hands on season 6. The show is in danger of running into TV soapie territory, but my love of Andy (below in exercise gear glory), hate of Nancy and general taste for dramatics keep me watching. Any man wondering what women want please refer to Andy Botwin.

Nancy: They wanted to suspend him.
Andy: For what? If Shane wants to believe in Chris, and they try to suspend him for it, Whoa! That’s freedom of religion, that’s like the first commandment; we could nail ‘em on that.
Nancy: I don’t think Chris is protected under “Freedom of Religion,” Andy. In fact, the Angry Christian Moms I heard from in the PTA were pretty offended by it.
Andy: Well that’s so intolerant. I mean, what would Jesus do?

SATC 2 montage

Spoiler alert... Even just the first scene in this spoiler clip makes me wonder if I'll bother handing over the $16.50 for a movie ticket. And I'm tired of them going exotic holidays altogether. What ladies who lunch in their 40's and 50's are going as a group, on holiday, to Abu Dubai...?

Priceless

What do you call over 90 Alexander McQueen outfits, 50 Philip Treacy hats and a collection of Manolo Blahnik shoes all owned by the late and great Isabella Blow?

An auction will be held on September 15 by Christie's in London on behalf of the Blow estate.

Grunge

If you love the 90's as much as I do, you will love this book. I picked it up because it's called Grunge, and because I expected lots of photos of Cobain, Courtney and other hygienically challenged kids. I wasn't disappointed. Even more interesting though are the images from the late 70's and 80's, chronicling the styles and 'non fashion' statements of it's subjects. Get it here.

Girl crush

I recently watched Judd Apatow's Funny People (which actually wasn't that funny but did have a zillion cameos from 'funny people') and the best character has to be Daisy, played by Aubrey Plaza. Where did this girl come from, how has she not been noticed before and where can I find more of her?! Further research leads me to her part in Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler's new tv show. Watch her stand up routine from the movie below.

The MCA lives on

Thanks to a hefty $15 million private donation, the long planned renovations to Sydney's MCA will finally go ahead. Beginning this June, the new wing will increase the size of the gallery by two thirds and include the National Centre for Creative Learning and new gallery space. Good news after too many rumors about the gallery having to close is doors!
